I used to kind of hate therapy and was really scared of therapy and being deemed as weak and now I know it's just strong, and you know, I'm getting the help that I deserve. So, I'm not sure what 2028 looks like, but I will be there in some capacity. I just don't know right now if it's on the floor or in the stands, but I definitely want to go and be a part of that movement.” 5. BILES TALKING TO EVENT HOST 6. AUDIENCE LISTENING 7. (SOUNDBITE) (English) GYMNAST, SIMONE BILES, SAYING: “So, mental health and the topic of conversation surrounding that is still a really, really big stigma around the world and especially in the U.S. because it's not talked about enough. So, I think the first step in breaking that stigma is having conversations around it and seeing how we look at it and stop thinking of it as a weakness and thinking more of it as you deserve that help. And I think we've started doing that and we've started having global conversations around mental health and that conversation. And I think so many more athletes are speaking up and speaking out about what they're going through and telling their stories.” 9. AUDIENCE WATCHING THE CONFERENCE 10. (SOUNDBITE) (English) GYMNAST, SIMONE BILES, SAYING: “People cannot relate to gold medals and representing their country on a world stage, but they can relate to mental health and what we're all going through. And so if I can be a lending…, if I can be a helping hand, then that's what I'm going to do, especially for kids all around the world. Then I can shine a light on it basically.” 13. BILES TALKING TO HOST AT THE END OF THE EVENT STORY: Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history, delivered a motivational talk titled “The Power of Believing” in Buenos Aires on Wednesday (October 8), sharing her personal journey and advocating for mental health in sports. Biles has won 11 Olympic medals and 23 World Championship golds, and is widely recognized not only for her athletic achievements but also for her leadership in mental health awareness. During her talk, Biles reflected on her experience at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she withdrew from several events after suffering from “twisties” — a mental block that disrupts coordination and can endanger athletes. Her decision sparked global debate, with many praising her courage to prioritize well-being over competition. The event was held at the city’s government headquarters as part of Buenos Aires’ designation as World Capital of Sport for 2027. (Production: Candelaria Grimberg, Horacio Soria, Mariana Hernandez)
