(SOUNDBITE) (Portuguese) AL-NASSR FORWARD AND PORTUGAL CAPTAIN, CRISTIANO RONALDO, SAYING: "It's a big motivation for me. I'm still passionate about this. Some people, especially my family, tell me 'It's time to quit, you've already achieved everything. Why do you want to score 1,000 goals? You've already already scored 900 and something. What difference does it make scoring more?' But for me personally, deep down I don't think like that. I think it's still possible to produce beautiful things. I'm still contributing to my club and my national team. So, why not continue? I am certain that when I finish I'm going to feel fulfilled because I gave everything I had until I couldn't give anymore. So, I have to enjoy every moment. I know i don't have many years left. But of the the little time I do have left I have to enjoy it to the fullest." STORY: Cristiano Ronaldo has suggested he is not considering retirement any time soon as he sets his sights on reaching the milestone of 1,000 goals scored.  Speaking at the Portugal Football Globes Gala on Wednesday (October 8), the 40-year-old forward, now playing his club career with Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr, said he doesn't want to leave anything on the field. "I still have a passion for this. My family says it's time to quit and they ask me why I want to score 1,000 goals if I've already scored 900-something. But I don't think of it that way." "I'm still producing good things. I'm helping my club and the national team. Why not continue? I am sure that when I finish I will leave fulfilled because I gave everything I had. I know I don't have many years left to play, but of the little time I do have left, I have to enjoy it the fullest" Ronaldo added.  The Portuguese skipper has scored 946 goals so far for club and country across an illustrious career with trophy-laden spells at Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus.  And Ronaldo has the chance to add to his record as Portugal's all-time top goalscorer this international break with the reigning UEFA Nations League champions looking to build on their perfect start to 2026 World Cup qualifying when they play host to Ireland and Hungary in Lisbon on Saturday (October 11) and Tuesday (October 14) respectively.
