SAO PAULO (Reuters) -Brazilian airline Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA on Monday announced plans to go private as part of a corporate reorganization process. The company, which earlier this year emerged from U.S. bankruptcy proceedings, said in a regulatory filing that it intends to delist shares from the Brazilian stock exchange B3, a move still contingent on approvals, including from shareholders. As part of the restructuring, the company and Gol Investment Brasil SA will merge into another private company within the group, Gol Linhas Aereas, which does not intend to have listed shares. "The incorporation aims to reorganize the company's operations, seek synergies, and reduce its costs," said Gol, which made its initial public share offering (IPO) in Brazil in 2004. As part of a board-approved process, there will be a public tender offer for the current listed shares of Gol. However, the airline will reserve the right to cancel the offer if its total value reaches or exceeds 47.25 million reais ($8.64 million). Gol's financial reorganization during Chapter 11 significantly diluted the airline's free float, which is less than 1% for the non-common shares, minimizing the impact of its stock exchange exit. In 2024, Gol filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S. as the airline industry faced significant challenges, including debt, fewer passengers during the COVID-19 pandemic, and aircraft delivery delays. SEOUL (Reuters) -Samsung Electronics on Tuesday projected a 32% rise in third-quarter operating profit from a year earlier, well ahead of analysts' estimates, as demand for conventional memory chips helped offset weaker high bandwidth memory chip sales. The world's largest memory chipmaker estimated an operating profit of 12.1 trillion won for the July-September period, versus a 10.1 trillion won LSEG SmartEstimate, marking its highest quarterly profit in more than three years. Samsung’s third-quarter results reflected a gradual recovery in the memory market, as strong demand for server and AI-related chips boosted prices and shipments of conventional DRAM and NAND products. Although progress in supplying advanced high bandwidth memory (HBM) chips to major clients such as Nvidia was slower than expected, gains in commodity memory, also supported by tight supplies, helped cushion the impact, analysts said. Revenue would likely rise 8.7% to 86 trillion won from a year earlier, the filing showed. Samsung is expected to release detailed results including a breakdown of earnings for each of its businesses later this month. The report estimated that some $26 billion of selling from leveraged ETFs at Friday's close drove the overall market even lower after threats by U.S. President Donald Trump that he would levy big new tariffs on China triggered an initial selldown. That left options dealers in a position where they were likely to aggravate further downside moves as they looked to cover their own market exposure. The selloff followed a period of intense interest in leveraged products, with many asset managers ramping up their offerings in a bid to attract customers looking to place bets on heavily traded and volatile stocks, including Tesla. Equities rebounded on Monday after Trump softened his tone on the U.S.-China trade war, but safe-haven gold hit fresh record highs in a sign that uncertainty remained high. Tom Bruni, head of markets and retail investor insights at StockTwits, calculates there are now some 900 leveraged products, accounting for 33% of all new ETFs but only 1% of the U.S. ETF industry's $12 trillion in assets. A spokesperson for JPMorgan declined any further comment on the report. "We'd seen customers selling volatility going into Friday in general, and that came back to bite them," said Steve Sosnick, market strategist at Interactive Brokers. "There are plenty of potential culprits, whether that approach to volatility came through leveraged ETFs" or some other trading strategy. NEW LEVERAGED ETF PRODUCTS Meanwhile, an array of ETF issuers are filing applications with regulators to roll out new products with 3x leverage levels on individual stocks. Until now, the SEC has approved single-stock leveraged ETFs with a maximum of 2x leverage, meaning that the issuer seeks to deliver 200% of the daily price change in the underlying stock. To deliver those returns, managers turn to the swaps or options markets; those options market makers in turn must manage their risk in rapidly moving markets. GraniteShares, whose 2x ETF tied to Nvidia now has $4.8 billion in assets, has filed for 3x products on "dozens" of underlying stocks, CEO Will Rhind told Reuters. "It's a competitive thing," Rhind said. "We're responding to trends in the market and indications that this is what people want to see." That is in spite of the fact that last Tuesday GraniteShares closed down a Europe-based ETF that offered 3x the inverse of a move in Advanced Micro Devices. AMD's shares rallied 38% in a single day, wiping out the value of the $3 million fund. "The product did what it was supposed to do," Rhind said. Following OpenAI's success with ChatGPT, big tech companies have established longer-term plans to expand their spending on AI-related investments, including data centres and servers capable of handling the growing workloads from AI services. By James Pearson LONDON (Reuters) -British cyber incidents classed as "highly significant" have risen by 50% over a year ago, the head of the country's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) will say on Tuesday. A series of cyber attacks in recent months has knocked some of Britain's biggest brands, including Marks & Spencer, Co-op and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), offline. "Every leader, whether you're one person at your kitchen table or the boss of thousands of people, you must have a plan to defend against criminal cyberattacks," NCSC CEO Richard Horne is due to say at the launch of its annual review in London. The NCSC, part of Britain's GCHQ spy agency, was asked to help with 429 cyber incidents in the 12 months to August, half of which were considered of "national significance". Of those, Horne said, 18 were classed as "highly significant" because they had "serious impact on central government, UK essential services, a large proportion of the UK population, or the UK economy". Ministers have written to companies, including the largest 350 on the FTSE Index, urging them to understand what support is available and to make cyber resilience a board-level responsibility, Britain's Department for Science, Innovation & Technology Press said in a statement. The NCSC said it had dealt with 204 attacks in the three most serious categories in the year to August 2025, more than doubling from 89 the year before. That has cast a light on the resilience of companies and particularly the smaller businesses in their supply chains, which may be more vulnerable to suddenly losing orders, and payments, if their clients are unable to operate. JLR, which analysts estimated was losing around 50 million pounds per week from the shutdown, last week restarted some manufacturing after an almost six-week pause. The luxury carmaker, owned by India's Tata Motors, was given a 1.5 billion pound loan guarantee by the British government in late September to help it support suppliers. "If your IT infrastructure was crippled tomorrow and all your screens went blank, could you run your payroll systems, keep your machinery working, or stock your shelves? ," Horne said in his speech.
