JAKARTA, Oct 10 (Reuters) – Indonesia has raised $2.54 billion in a dual-currency bond deal in U.S. dollars and euros, its finance ministry said in a statement. The bonds were issued in 5.5-year, 10.5-year, and 8-year tenors, respectively raising $600 million, $1.25 billion and 600 million euros ($693.72 million), according to the late Thursday statement. Final yields were set at 4.35% for the 5.5 year, 4.95% for 10.5 year U.S. dollar-denominated bond, and 3.75% for the 8-year euro-denominated sustainable bond, the ministry said. The proceeds will be used to finance the 2025 state budget, while proceeds from the sustainable bond will specifically be used for sustainable development goal projects, the ministry added. Indonesia usually offers foreign investors bonds denominated in U.S. dollars, euros and Japanese yen. It is also a regular issuer of Islamic bonds. CANBERRA, Oct 10 (Reuters) – U.S. soybean futures steadied on Friday and were set to notch a second straight weekly gain, as traders weighed hopes of renewed Chinese buying from the United States against expectations of ample global supply. Wheat and corn futures rose slightly but were headed for their fourth weekly declines in a row, with both markets well supplied. FUNDAMENTALS * The most-active soybean contract on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) was flat at $10.22-1/2 a bushel at 0021 GMT and up 0.4% from last Friday's close. Earlier in the week, prices reached $10.30, the highest since September 19. * CBOT corn was up 0.1% at $4.18-3/4 a bushel but down 0.1% over the week. Wheat rose 0.4% to $5.18-1/4 a bushel but was set for a 1.4% weekly loss. * Trading has been subdued due to a federal government shutdown. A lack of government data releases on crop production, exports, and investor positioning is making market participants hesitant to take positions. * China's expansion of export controls on rare earth metals, meanwhile, raised doubts that Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping will reach a trade accord at a meeting later this month. * Trump said last week he would talk to Xi about China's boycott of U.S. soybeans, fuelling hopes of a revival in trade and lifting prices. * Details of a possible $10-15 billion aid package for U.S. farmers have not yet been released. The securities, both debt and equity, were purchased by the government as part of its commitment to roll out ultra-fast broadband in 2011, and that was completed in 2022. The government said it was looking at the feasibility of selling these to private investors in early 2026 and it expected to make a final decision before the end of the year. It did not provide a valuation for the securities or details of expected sale proceeds. Finance Minister Nicola Willis said in a statement that with the ultra-fast broadband project completed, there was no longer a reason for the government to own these securities. “The Government is continuously identifying opportunities to support its fiscal strategy and to drive economic growth. Early monetisation of NIFFCo’s Chorus securities is one opportunity that is worth exploring," Willis said in a statement. New Zealand's economy has contracted in three of the last five quarters, and business confidence is worsening and households are in a depressed mood as they fret about the rising cost of living and scarcity of jobs. The Taxpayers' Union-Curia Poll released on Wednesday found that the current government would not have enough seats to govern if an election was held today. While the government is firm on its need to reduce debt, it is looking for ways to stimulate the economy. Willis said a possible divestment of Chorus securities would allow it to redirect the money into capital projects of more use to New Zealanders. The government does not own ordinary shares in Chorus, but holds a different class of equity that does not provide voting rights.
