By Tim Hepher and Allison Lampert CASTELLON DE LA PLANA, Spain (Reuters) -At Castellon airport in eastern Spain, workers in hazmat suits wriggle through hatches of a nearly new Airbus jet, stripping out parts as if gutting a mechanical whale. Once a semi-deserted airport, Castellon has become a graveyard for aircraft caught in a global engine crisis. Despite booming demand for planes, a severe shortage of next-generation fuel-efficient engines has flipped market economics: in some cases, the engines are now worth more than the aircraft they power when offered as spares. The imbalance has led to more than a dozen Airbus jets being dismantled for parts after only a few years in service, with dozens more awaiting their fate, according to industry insiders. AIRBUS JET SCRAPPED AFTER SIX YEARS The unusual trend, driven by delays in Pratt & Whitney GTF engine production and maintenance, has sounded the death knell for jets like the six-year-old A321neo being broken up in Castellon. The A321neo is part of the A320 family, which this month ousted Boeing's 737 as the most-delivered jetliner. The Spanish airport, for years blighted by a lack of passengers, is the growing hub for a lucrative financial trade as UK-based eCube harvests parts from almost-new jets for investor clients. "I can’t say I remember it happening on this scale before, because we’ve never had an issue like this on such a popular engine," said Lee McConnellogue, CEO of the company, which says it can release usable parts or recycle virtually the whole jet. Skilled workers strip out avionics, wheels and wing parts. Engine housings sit on the wings like empty husks, with their precious powerplants wrapped in blue covers to become spares worth up to $20 million. They are urgently needed by airlines forced to ground jets because of queues for engine repairs. The problem worsened in 2023 when Pratt & Whitney disclosed a rare powder-metal defect that could cause cracking, prompting calls for inspections of 600-700 GTF engines through 2026. According to Cirium data, one-third of the GTF-powered Airbus fleet or 636 jets are grounded or in storage. The equivalent percentage for planes with engines from competitor CFM is 4%. Pratt & Whitney and Airbus had no immediate comment. 'SOMETHING WRONG' The jet engine squeeze is disrupting airline operations worldwide, as carriers struggle to meet passenger demand and unlock the promised 15% fuel savings of new aircraft.  Most airlines say they are short of jets after years of delivery delays and are keeping older planes flying longer.  But in some cases, financial owners can earn more by stripping engines than by leasing out the jet itself.  For example, the engines can be rented out as spares for some $200,000 a month each, according to UK-based Cirium. That is at least as much as a whole plane with engines. Add to the pot revenue from breaking up the rest and the deal makes sense. "It's a paradox where there's so much demand, why on earth would people be parting out aircraft," said Austin Willis, CEO of Willis Lease, which bought some of the engines.   The engine bubble overshadowed a recent meeting of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT), a teeming ecosystem of aircraft traders and lessors who buy, sell or finance almost every aspect of a jet from nose to tail. "It's a financial play … There have been billions of dollars of private equity capital bidding for aircraft and engines to part out in recent years," Naveo consultant Richard Brown said. "It shows aviation has become a super-efficient marketplace," he added in a telephone interview. But airline leaders question how aircraft built to fly for more than 20 years and save millions of gallons of fuel are being dismantled so quickly.  "It tells you something is seriously wrong," said Willie Walsh, head of the International Air Transport Association, which last week predicted $11 billion in costs from supply disruption this year including $2.6 billion in engines alone. Critics say the crisis has its roots in an overreaction to high oil prices above $140 a barrel at around the time engine makers were designing current models. Engine design involves a balancing act between optimising efficiency or durability. "They went too fast and the engines had great improvements in efficiency but they failed on maintenance," leading aviation economist Adam Pilarski told Reuters during the ISTAT event. Engine executives argue the fuel savings benefit airlines on every mile flown, while maintenance delays are temporary. Even so, Pratt admits it will take years to end bottlenecks. Chris Calio, CEO of Pratt & Whitney parent RTX, said last month that groundings had stabilised and would fall, but that “clearly we have more work to do.”  Now some are eyeing the fate of Airbus planes discarded by Spirit Airlines as the U.S. carrier faces bankruptcy. A strong content slate including "KPop Demon Hunters", Netflix's most successful movie ever, and the second season of "Wednesday" are expected to power the company's fastest revenue increase in more than four years when it reports third-quarter results on Tuesday. The last three months of 2025 will also feature strong programming, including the last season of "Stranger Things."  But some investors and analysts fear that the streamer's years of runaway growth could fade. They noted that the company decided to stop sharing subscriber numbers earlier this year, urging Wall Street to focus more on financial metrics such as revenue and profit. That has pushed the company to focus on newer ventures such as video games, which, analysts said, have struggled amid shifts in leadership and strategy. According to the Wall Street Journal, Netflix is estimated to have invested around $1 billion buying gaming studios and building the business, which now offers more than 120 mobile games, including Rockstar Games' "GTA: San Andreas" alongside games based on its own hit shows such as "Squid Game: Unleashed." Netflix said this month it would offer family party games such as "Boogle Party" and "Pictionary: Game Night" on TV. A BET THAT HASN'T PAID OFF  Netflix's video games have boosted user time spent – a key engagement measure – by less than 0.5%, after more than four years in operation, an analysis from technology research firm Omdia showed in June showed. Co-CEO Greg Peters – seen as the architect of Netflix's gaming strategy – recently likened the expansion into video games to the streaming service's entry into Japan, when only 2% of consumers knew the brand. "We just did the 10th Anniversary in Japan … but it took us a long time. The gaming situation is not dissimilar to that," he said at the Bloomberg Screentime conference earlier this month. That problem is not unique to Netflix. Major media and entertainment companies other than Warner Bros Discovery have struggled to turn hit films into profitable game ventures.  Netflix's main challenge in gaming is its limited roster of iconic intellectual property unlike Warner Bros Discovery, which owns iconic intellectual property such as DC Comics, said Michael Pachter, managing director, strategic planning at Wedbush Securities. Sensor Tower data showed that "GTA: San Andreas" remains Netflix's most downloaded game, outperforming its originals – a sign that the company's own IP lacks the merchandising pull of established entertainment franchises. Omdia analyst Rob Gallagher said video games stand out awakardly within Netflix's lineup because most subscribers come for a passive, lean-back viewing experience – a habit that even light party games struggle to change. AD TIER  Focus will also on the ad-supported tier, widely expected to become a major driver of Netflix's growth from next year. The plan has been attracting more than half of the company's new subscribers and had around 94 million users as of May, but its contribution to Netflix's topline remains small.  The streamer does not break out the revenue figure for the tier but analysts expect it to bring in $662.3 million in the third quarter ended Sept. 30, according to data from three analysts polled by LSEG.  Overall, the company is expected to report a revenue jump of 17.2% to $11.51 billion, while net profit likely surged 27% to $3.01 billion.  "We understand why they're taking these measures to have diverse streams of revenue but in the short term, they are not profitable segments," said Brian Mulberry, senior portfolio manager at Zacks Investment Management, which offers Netflix-linked ETFs. While preliminary conversations between the Gucci owner and L’Oreal over the sale of Kering's beauty business had begun in the spring, before de Meo was appointed, the pace picked up once the Italian took charge in September, according to two people familiar with the matter. There was another reason to speed up talks: Spanish-listed beauty firm Puig had held discussions with Kering about buying the business, one of the two people and a third source said. "Puig tried to be around in the last two months, but it was a very different deal, with different structuration," one of the sources said.  In the end, de Meo chose the deep pockets and simpler structure of L'Oreal's offer, in a deal announced on Monday. In an interview with the Financial Times on Monday, de Meo said he moved to seal the beauty deal “as quickly as possible”. He promised there would be more deals and did not rule out the sale of Kering's eyewear division. Puig declined to comment. Kering did not comment beyond its statement. L'Oreal did not respond to a request for comment.   CLOSE-KNIT FRENCH CORPORATE CIRCLES Kering's exit from the beauty business marks a U-turn from the strategy championed by de Meo's predecessor Francois-Henri Pinault – whose family controls the luxury giant – to diversify away from slowing top fashion brand Gucci. Kering parts with Creed – the ultra-premium fragrance house it acquired just two years ago for 3.5 billion euros ($4.08 billion) – while L'Oreal secures 50-year beauty licenses for key brands like Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga and, most crucially, for Gucci when an existing license with Coty expires, most likely in 2028. The deal's genesis reveals the role of personal relationships in a tightly-knit French corporate landscape. François-Henri Pinault, who stepped down as Kering CEO but remains chairman, and L'Oréal's leadership team – CEO Nicolas Hieronimus and  Chairman Jean-Paul Agon – have maintained close ties through the Yves Saint Laurent beauty license, which L'Oreal acquired in 2008. "Pinault, Hieronimus and Agon have known each other well for 20 years thanks to the Saint Laurent agreement and are close friends," said one of the sources.  "Top management spent a lot of time together over the last month," the source said, adding that Hieronimus and de Meo hit it off from the start. TIMING DICTATED BY NEED TO RAISE CASH The transaction's structure, and the timing of the deal, show Kering had to compromise on price to raise cash and cut uncomfortably high net debt, which at the end of June stood at 9.5 billion euros. Meanwhile L'Oreal, the only beauty player that could quickly table 4 billion euros, had set its eyes on the real trophy: the ability to get hold of Gucci's licence. "The reality is that Kering has an asset called Creed that they overpaid for. L'Oréal didn't want it, which is part of the bride's dowry," an industry source said. "L'Oréal's only interest was the Gucci licence." "For Luca de Meo, it's a good move, but for Kering and for those who decided to make this strategic move, it's still a withdrawal," the industry source said. By Deborah Mary Sophia and Shubham Kalia (Reuters) -Amazon's cloud services unit AWS was struggling to recover on Monday from a widespread outage that knocked out thousands of websites along with some of the world's most popular apps – Snapchat and Reddit – and disrupted businesses globally. The turmoil marked the largest internet disruption since last year's CrowdStrike malfunction hobbled technology systems in hospitals, banks and airports, and highlights the vulnerability of the world's interconnected technologies. After more than nine hours of disruptions, some applications were gradually coming back online as of 1:00 p.m. ET (1700 GMT). But AWS acknowledged that elevated errors were still affecting several AWS services and that it was working on recovering connectivity. AWS was down for more than 9,300 users as of 1:00 p.m. ET, according to outage tracking website Downdetector. That figure is higher than the earlier peak of about 5,800 reports at 3:48 a.m. ET. Lambda, one of AWS's computing services, was experiencing errors due to issues with an internal subsystem, AWS said in the latest update on its status page. "We are taking steps to recover this internal Lambda system," it said. AWS said earlier the root cause of the outage is an underlying subsystem that monitors the health of its network load balancers used to distribute traffic across several servers to ensure improved performance and capacity. The issue, AWS said, originated from within the "EC2 internal network." EC2 refers to Amazon's "Elastic Compute Cloud" service, which provides on-demand cloud capacity within AWS. Businesses use EC2 to run virtual servers that they need to develop, launch and host applications, and can scale up or down on capacity as required. While some apps like Reddit and Roblox had largely stabilised, according to outage tracking website Downdetector, others, including Snapchat, PayPal's Venmo and Duolingo, were showing a resurgence in issues seen earlier in the day. ISSUE ORIGINATED FROM AWS SITE KNOWN FOR PREVIOUS OUTAGES AWS provides computing power, data storage and other digital services to companies, governments and individuals and is the world's largest cloud provider, followed by Microsoft's Azure and Alphabet's Google Cloud. Disruptions to its servers can cause outages across websites and platforms – ranging from food delivery apps to gaming platforms and airline systems – that rely on its cloud infrastructure. AWS said on its status page that Monday's outage originated at its US-EAST-1 location in northern Virginia, its oldest and largest for web services. The site suffered outages in 2021 and 2020. According to documentation on the AWS website, the US-EAST-1 site is often the default region for many AWS services.  Asked for comment, AWS directed Reuters to its status page. Amazon did not respond to a request for comment. "FRAGILE INFRASTRUCTURES" The problem highlights how interconnected everyday digital services have become and their reliance on a small number of global cloud providers, with one glitch wreaking havoc on business and day-to-day life, experts and academics said. "This outage once again highlights the dependency we have on relatively fragile infrastructures," said Jake Moore, Global Cybersecurity Advisor at European cybersecurity firm ESET. In Britain, Lloyd Bank, Bank of Scotland and telecom service providers Vodafone and BT were all hit, according to Downdetector's UK website, as was UK tax, payments and customs authority HMRC's website. "The main reason for this issue is that all these big companies have relied on just one service," said Nishanth Sastry, director of research at the University of Surrey's Department of Computer Science. Ookla, which owns Downdetector, said over 4 million users reported issues due to the incident. "For major businesses, hours of cloud downtime translate to millions in lost productivity and revenue," said Ryan Griffin, U.S. cyber practice leader at insurance broker McGill and Partners. FROM SNAPCHAT TO VENMO: OUTAGE TAKES DOWN APPS Ookla said at least a thousand companies were affected by the outage. Snapchat last had over 7,500 reports on Downdetector, lower than the peak of more than 22,000 but still higher than the 4,000 outage instances seen at around 7:00 a.m. ET. Artificial intelligence startup Perplexity, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase and trading app Robinhood all experienced platform disruptions and attributed them to AWS.  Amazon's own services, including its shopping website, Prime Video and Alexa, were also hit, although Downdetector last showed a decrease in severity. Fortnite, owned by Epic Games; Clash Royale and Clash of Clans were among the gaming platforms affected. Uber rival Lyft was also knocked down in the United States. In a post on X, Signal President Meredith Whittaker confirmed the messaging app was hit by the outage as well, though billionaire Elon Musk, who owns X, said his platform continued to work.  While there has been no indication of a potential cyberattack behind Monday's outage, the scale of the disruption has fed speculation. "When anything like this happens, the concern that it's a cyber incident is understandable," said Rafe Pilling, director of threat intelligence at cybersecurity firm Sophos. "AWS has a far-reaching and intricate footprint, so any issue can cause a major upset." WHAT IS THIS SALE ABOUT? The sale, which includes fragrance line Creed and long-term fragrance licences for Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga and Gucci, is a big step in cutting Kering's debt, a key investor concern. "The proceeds will strengthen the balance sheet and support deleveraging, adding to the 1 billion euro reduction in net debt already achieved in the first half of 2025," Juliane Barthold and Stoyan Toshev from Frankfurt-based brokerage Metzler told Reuters in an email. Royalties from these brand licenses will ensure a continuing income stream from the beauty segment for Kering, they added. Kering's net debt was 9.5 billion euros at the end of June. It also had 6 billion euros of long-term lease liabilities. Kering did not give any detail on the deal's impact on its debt. L'Oreal and Kering agreed to set up a 50/50 joint venture to explore further business opportunities beyond cosmetics. KERING STRATEGIC U-TURN Kering set up its beauty business in 2023 after buying Creed for 3.5 billion euros in an effort to diversify and reduce its reliance on the Gucci brand, which makes up most of its profit.  But it has struggled to ramp up the business, posting a 60 million euro operating loss for the first half of 2025. Kering is also battling declining growth at Gucci, which has been hit by slowing demand in the key Chinese market. Gucci made up 44.5% of its revenue and 63% of its operating income in 2024. Sarah Thirion, an analyst at Paris-based Midcap, said in a note to investors that Kering was "demonstrating strategic realism", adding: "(It) must choose its battles, and beauty is clearly no longer one of them". DE MEO FIRMLY IN THE DRIVING SEAT The sale marks a shift by CEO De Meo, backtracking on one of the big strategic pivots of recent years by his predecessor Francois-Henri Pinault, whose family controls Kering. De Meo, who took over as CEO in September, told shareholders he planned to take some difficult decisions to cut Kering's debt, including rationalising and reorganising where necessary. Kering has also postponed a plan to fully acquire Italian fashion brand Valentino, and aims to sell stakes in its real estate to raise cash. "This highlights that Luca de Meo has the mandate to make big changes and is acting quickly to make things happen," Deutsche Bank analysts wrote in a research note. WHAT'S NEXT FROM DE MEO? "Luca de Meo has already laid the foundations for his ascendancy. He will certainly not fail to act quickly on the excessively high operating costs, which, together with the decline in sales, have contributed to the decline," Midcap's Thirion told Reuters in an email. Meanwhile, the joint venture will mean Kering benefits from L'Oreal's beauty expertise, Barthold and Toshev said. "We are awaiting more details from the strategy in spring 2026, which we expect to boost the operating performance further," they added. Kering is set to publish its third-quarter results on Wednesday, after the market close in Paris. Gold prices rose more than 2% on expectations of further U.S. interest rate cuts and sustained safe-haven demand. Investors are also monitoring the U.S. federal government shutdown, now in its 20th consecutive day. Key economic reports have not been published by government agencies as a result, although the September U.S. Consumer Price Index report is expected to be released on Friday. The U.S. quarterly reporting period has unofficially entered its second week, and investors are keen to see reports this week from Tesla, IBM, Netflix, Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola and other big names. On Wall Street, Nasdaq led gains and was more than 1% higher. The S&P 500 technology sector was leading gains among the benchmark's sectors. "Some big, large-cap stalwarts are going to be reporting," said Jake Dollarhide, chief executive officer of Longbow Asset Management in Tulsa, Oklahoma. "Of course, if we see some disappointing earnings, that could affect the market negatively. But investors come into the week with rose-colored glasses on, feeling very good about where we've gone this year." The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 362.24 points, or 0.79%, to 46,553.87, the S&P 500 advanced 61.30 points, or 0.92%, to 6,725.42 and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 298.30 points, or 1.32%, to 22,978.27. As U.S. regional banks' earnings keep rolling in, some market watchers said tighter credit conditions could remove some froth in the market. MSCI's gauge of stocks across the globe rose 10.95 points, or 1.11%, to 994.85. The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 1.03%. Japan's Nikkei jumped 2.8% to a record as a coalition deal set the stage for pro-stimulus Sanae Takaichi to become prime minister. On the U.S. trade front, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Friday he expects to meet this week with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in Malaysia to try to forestall an escalation of U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods that U.S. President Donald Trump said was unsustainable. Trump also confirmed he would meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in two weeks in South Korea and expressed admiration for the Chinese leader. The yield on benchmark U.S. 10-year notes fell 1.7 basis points to 3.992%, from 4.009% late on Friday. The dollar was little changed against the yen and other currencies. Markets were reducing the odds of a Bank of Japan rate hike this month to just over 20%, while in France political tensions eased. The Federal Reserve still is widely expected to cut interest rates by a quarter-point next month and again in December. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies, was down 0.02% at 98.51, with the euro up 0.03% at $1.1655. Against the Japanese yen, the dollar weakened 0.06% to 150.53. Spot gold rose 2.29% to $4,346.16 an ounce. U.S. crude fell 0.83% to $57.06 a barrel and Brent dropped to $60.62 per barrel, down 1.09% on the day. (Reuters) -Apple shares surged to an all-time high on Monday, with the iPhone maker close to becoming the third company to hit a $4 trillion market valuation as data showed strong momentum for the latest iPhone. Data from research firm Counterpoint showed the iPhone 17 series outperformed its predecessor in early sales in China and the United States, with the newer models out-selling the iPhone 16 series by 14% during their first 10 days of availability in the two countries. Apple shares jumped 4.2% to $262.9, giving it a market capitalization of about $3.9 trillion and making it the second most valuable company in the world after AI-chip giant Nvidia. Over the weekend, Evercore ISI added the stock to its Tactical Outperform List as the brokerage expects Apple to beat market expectations for the current three-month period and issue upbeat forecasts for the December quarter. "The recent launch of online orders in China may be a positive tailwind for the Dec-qtr, as initial delivery time data reflects stronger initial demand relative to other regions at launch," Evercore ISI analysts wrote in a note. Apple unveiled in September an upgraded line of new iPhones, including a slimmer iPhone Air, and held prices steady amid U.S. tariff concerns. "They rolled out the latest version of their iPhone and it's doing much better than anticipated … the demand trends for the company's iPhones are now on the front foot," said Art Hogan, chief market strategist at B Riley Wealth. Apple shares had struggled earlier this year on concerns over tough competition in China and uncertainties around how the company would navigate high U.S. tariffs on Asian economies such as China and India, its major manufacturing hubs.  However, the stock has risen modestly since early August after the company pledged $100 billion in additional U.S. investment, a move that could help it sidestep potential tariffs. The stock is set for its biggest one-day jump in four weeks if gains hold and will be up more than 5% for the year. Apple will report quarterly earnings after the bell on October 30. That figure is higher than the earlier peak of about 5,800 reports at 3:48 a.m. ET. "We have narrowed down the source of the network connectivity issues that impacted AWS Services. The root cause is an underlying internal subsystem responsible for monitoring the health of our network load balancers," AWS said in the latest update on its status page. The issue, AWS said, originated from within the "EC2 internal network." EC2 refers to Amazon's "Elastic Compute Cloud" service, which provides on-demand cloud capacity within AWS. Businesses use EC2 to run virtual servers that they need to develop, launch and host applications, and can scale up or down on capacity as required. While some apps like Reddit and Roblox had largely stabilised, according to outage tracking website Downdetector, others, including Snapchat, PayPal's Venmo and Duolingo, were showing a resurgence in issues seen earlier in the day. ISSUE ORIGINATED FROM AWS SITE KNOWN FOR PREVIOUS OUTAGES AWS provides computing power, data storage and other digital services to companies, governments and individuals and is the world's largest cloud provider, followed by Microsoft's Azure and Alphabet's Google Cloud. Disruptions to its servers can cause outages across websites and platforms – ranging from food delivery apps to gaming platforms and airline systems – that rely on its cloud infrastructure. AWS said on its status page that Monday's outage originated at its US-EAST-1 location in northern Virginia, its oldest and largest for web services. The site suffered outages in 2021 and 2020. According to documentation on the AWS website, the US-EAST-1 site is often the default region for many AWS services. Asked for comment, AWS directed Reuters to its status page. Amazon did not respond to a request for comment. HOURS LATER, A ROCKY RECOVERY Ookla, which owns Downdetector, said over 4 million users reported issues due to the incident. Snapchat, for instance, last had over 7,500 reports on Downdetector, lower than the peak of more than 22,000 but still higher than the 4,000 outage instances seen at around 7:00 a.m. ET. Artificial intelligence startup Perplexity, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase and trading app Robinhood all experienced platform disruptions and attributed them to AWS.  Amazon's own services, including its shopping website, Prime Video and Alexa, were also hit, although Downdetector last showed a decrease in severity. Fortnite, owned by Epic Games, along with Clash Royale and Clash of Clans were among the gaming platforms affected. Uber rival Lyft was also knocked down in the United States. In a post on X, Signal President Meredith Whittaker confirmed the messaging app was hit by the outage as well, though billionaire Elon Musk, who owns X, said his platform continued to work.  OUTAGE EXPOSES RISK OF DEPENDENCE ON HANDFUL OF PROVIDERS In Britain, Lloyd Bank, Bank of Scotland and telecom service providers Vodafone and BT were also facing issues, according to Downdetector's UK website, as was UK tax, payments and customs authority HMRC's website. The problem highlights how interconnected everyday digital services have become and how reliant they now are on a small number of global cloud providers, with one glitch causing havoc with business and day-to-day life, experts and academics said. "The main reason for this issue is that all these big companies have relied on just one service," said Nishanth Sastry, director of research at the University of Surrey's Department of Computer Science. While there has been no indication of a potential cyberattack behind Monday's outage, the scale of the disruption has fed speculation. "When anything like this happens, the concern that it's a cyber incident is understandable," said Rafe Pilling, director of threat intelligence at cybersecurity firm Sophos. "AWS has a far-reaching and intricate footprint, so any issue can cause a major upset." (Reuters) -Apple shares surged to an all-time high on Monday, with the iPhone maker close to becoming the third company to hit a $4 trillion market valuation as data showed strong momentum for the latest iPhone. Data from research firm Counterpoint showed the iPhone 17 series outperformed its predecessor in early sales in China and the United States, with the newer models out-selling the iPhone 16 series by 14% during their first 10 days of availability in the two countries. Apple shares jumped 4.5% to $263.7, giving it a market capitalization of about $3.91 trillion and making it the second most valuable company in the world behind AI-chip giant Nvidia. Over the weekend, Evercore ISI added the stock to its Tactical Outperform List as the brokerage expects Apple to beat market expectations for the current three-month period and issue upbeat forecasts for the December quarter. "The recent launch of online orders in China may be a positive tailwind for the Dec-qtr, as initial delivery time data reflects stronger initial demand relative to other regions at launch," Evercore ISI analysts wrote in a note. Apple shares struggled earlier this year on concerns over tough competition in China and uncertainties around how the company would navigate high U.S. tariffs on Asian economies such as China and India, its major manufacturing hubs.  The stock is set for its biggest one-day jump since early August if gains hold and will be up 5% year-to-date. MILAN (Reuters) -Workers at Italian units of French luxury group Kering will stage a four-hour strike on Tuesday, unions said, citing what they said was the company's unwillingness to engage in dialogue over issues such as remote working. The action will affect staff at Kering brands including Gucci, Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent, with demonstrations planned in Milan and Scandicci, a town close to Florence. Kering is dealing with a slump in sales and high debt and it agreed on Monday to sell its beauty business to L'Oreal. Italian unions Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl and Uiltec Uil said recent talks with Kering's representatives showed a "preconceived closure to dialogue", accusing the group of unilateral decisions that risk weakening labour relations and workers' rights. One example was the company's decision to limit remote work, according to Filctem Cgil union representative Massimo Bollini. "But beyond this specific case, what's changing is the approach – decisions are presented as final and non-negotiable," he told Reuters. Kering Italia said it informed unions last November of its plan to halve monthly remote work days from eight to four, in line with the group's global strategy.
