(In Feb 8 story, corrects song name in bullet point to 'Die With A Smile' not 'If Tomorrow Never Comes') By Angelica Medina SANTA CLARA, California, Feb 8 (Reuters) – Bad Bunny transformed Levi's Stadium into a vibrant homage to Puerto Rico during Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show, delivering a high-energy journey through the island's culture complete with a surprise appearance by Lady Gaga and a tribute from reggaeton pioneer Daddy Yankee. The halftime spectacular marked a historic moment for Latin music on America's biggest stage, following last year's record-breaking Kendrick Lamar performance that drew more than 130 million viewers, with Bad Bunny using the platform to celebrate his heritage while cementing reggaeton's place in mainstream American culture. The choice of Bad Bunny, whose full name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, to feature in the halftime show drew a rebuke from President Donald Trump and other conservatives over the entertainer's outspoken criticism of U.S. immigration policy. On Sunday, Trump said on social media that the Super Bowl halftime show fronted by the singer was "absolutely terrible." Clad in a white suit, the 31-year-old superstar opened with "Tití Me Preguntó" while walking through carefully crafted vignettes of Puerto Rican life – farmers in traditional pava hats, domino players, and boxers. The performance hit its stride at a secondary stage dubbed "La Casita" (the little house), where he sang "Yo Perreo Sola," "Safaera" and "Party" as celebrities including Pedro Pascal, Karol G, Cardi B and Jessica Alba were spotted dancing in the crowd. In one of the show's most theatrical moments, Bad Bunny crashed through the ceiling of "La Casita" while performing "Voy a Llevarte Pa' PR," then moved to a white truck where dancers grooved to a medley honoring reggaeton's roots – Daddy Yankee's "Gasolina," Don Omar's "Dale Don Dale" and his own hit "EoO." "If I'm here at the Super Bowl 60 it is because I've never stopped believing in myself," he declared as violins swelled into "Monaco." A staged wedding featuring the iconic La Rana Concho that was shown on the stadium screens set the scene for Lady Gaga's surprise entrance, with the pop superstar singing a salsa version of "Die With A Smile" before dancing with him "BAILE INoLVIDABLE".  He then transitioned to "NUEVAYol" as a child and his family were shown watching the Grammy Awards ceremony at which he won Album of the Year – the first time the award was given to a Spanish-language album. Ricky Martin emerged for "LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii" as Bad Bunny hoisted the Puerto Rican flag and performed "El Apagón," with the stadium erupting in light before he delivered "CAFé CON RON" and yelled, "God bless America!" as he named all the countries on the continent while a parade of flags was held. "The only thing more powerful than hate is love," was shown in the stadium, as he told the audience closing with "DtMF," the title track from his Grammy-winning album "Debí Tirar Más Fotos." The Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots 29-13. (Reporting by Angelica Medina in Santa Clara; Editing by Peter Rutherford and Thomas Derpinghaus)

By Alan Baldwin Feb 9 (Reuters) – Cadillac Formula One CEO Dan Towriss said he hoped for an amicable settlement to legal action taken by Hollywood director Michael Bay over a livery launch commercial during Sunday's Super Bowl. The spot showed the as-yet unnamed black and white car to be raced by Formula One's 11th and newest entrants this season, with backing from General Motors. The Athletic and Rolling Stone reported Bay, director of big-budget hits "Transformers" and "Armageddon", filed a $1.5 million breach of contract and fraud lawsuit in Los Angeles on Friday alleging the team and Towriss had used his ideas without payment. Rolling Stone said he filed the lawsuit after material related to the advert was released online before Sunday's launch. "We have a lot of respect for Michael," Towriss told reporters on a video call on Monday. "I think it's disappointing that he chose to do that (legal response).  "Certainly, all of the creative (work) was done well in advance of ever speaking with him. We were wanting to talk to him about a role as director, not taking creative ideas from him. "We are confident it will be resolved amicably." Towriss, speaking to reporters from New York, hailed the launch as a "huge success". He confirmed that the cost was comparable to the $10 million that China's Dreame Technology said it paid for a 30 second commercial during the Super Bowl to showcase its planned electric luxury car. The Cadillac advert referenced a 1961 speech by the late president John F Kennedy announcing the aim of putting an American on the moon by the end of the decade.  "We wanted the car to be the star of the show, and I think with the JFK piece that was a very unifying moment and it captured a lot of the emotions that went into this team, of this kind of unbridled determination to win and to compete," said Towriss. "You can say we're competing against the other teams, but really Formula One is competing against other sports," he said. "And so I think as teams we need to continue to find innovative ways to draw that interest, do storytelling and reach out to fans." (Reporting by Alan Baldwin; Editing by Alison Williams)

BEIJING, Feb 8 (Reuters) – In China, humanoid robots are serving as Lunar New Year entertainment, with their manufacturers pitching their song-and-dance skills to the general public as well as potential customers, investors and government officials. On Sunday, Shanghai-based robotics start-up Agibot live-streamed an almost hour-long variety show featuring its robots dancing, performing acrobatics and magic, lip-syncing ballads and performing in comedy sketches. Other Agibot humanoid robots waved from an audience section. An estimated 1.4 million people watched on the Chinese streaming platform Douyin. Agibot, which called the promotional stunt "the world's first robot-powered gala," did not have an immediate estimate for total viewership. The show ran a week ahead of China's annual Spring Festival gala to be aired by state television, an event that has become an important – if unlikely – venue for Chinese robot makers to show off their success. A squad of 16 full-size humanoids from Unitree joined human dancers in performing at China Central Television's 2025 gala, drawing stunned accolades from millions of viewers. Less than three weeks later, Unitree's founder was invited to a high-profile symposium chaired by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Hangzhou-based robotics firm has since been preparing for a potential initial public offering. This year's CCTV gala will include participation by four humanoid robot startups, Unitree, Galbot, Noetix and MagicLab, the companies and broadcaster have said. Agibot's gala employed over 200 robots. It was streamed on social media platforms RedNote, Sina Weibo, TikTok and its Chinese version Douyin. Chinese-language television networks HTTV and iCiTi TV also broadcast the performance. "When robots begin to understand Lunar New Year and begin to have a sense of humour, the human-computer interaction may come faster than we think," Ma Hongyun, a photographer and writer with 4.8 million followers on Weibo, said in a post. Agibot, which says its humanoid robots are designed for a range of applications, including in education, entertainment and factories, plans to launch an initial public offering in Hong Kong, Reuters has reported. State-run Securities Times said Agibot had opted out of the CCTV gala in order to focus spending on research and development. The company did not respond to a request for comment. The company demonstrated two of its robots to Xi during a visit in April last year. U.S. billionaire Elon Musk, who has pivoted automaker Tesla toward a focus on artificial intelligence and the Optimus humanoid robot, has said the only competitive threat he faces in robotics is from Chinese firms. Like those rivals, Musk has also used stunts to promote Optimus, rolling out human-directed robots as bartenders at an event in 2024.
