"Congress betrayed farmers, BJP betrayed the nation": KTR

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 24 (ANI): In a no-holds-barred political broadside delivered at Telangana Bhavan, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) accused both the ruling Congress in Telangana and the BJP at the Centre of failing the people, particularly farmers, and pushing the nation into economic and governance distress.

He launched the attack while inducting the well-known Karimnagar-based doctor couple, Dr Ontela Rohit Reddy and senior gynaecologist Dr Gogula Gautami Reddy, into the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Tuesday, stating that educated professionals joining public life is the need of the hour.

Lashing out at the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government, KTR questioned whether thrashing farmers protesting for urea was the real face of Rahul Gandhi’s “Mohabbat ki Dukaan.”

“Farmers in Suryapet were subjected to third-degree torture for demanding fertiliser. Is this what Congress calls love? Thrashing the hands that feed the nation?” KTR asked sharply.

He condemned the government’s failure to act on its much-publicised “Farmers’ Declaration,” terming the administration as “shameless” and “visionless.”

Turning his focus to the BJP and the Union government, KTR alleged that the Modi administration looted Rs 15 lakh crore through “arbitrary and exploitative” GST slabs over the last eight years.

“And now, just before the Bihar elections, they reduce slabs and ask people to celebrate. This is not relief; this is election-time eyewash,” he said.

KTR reminded the public of the BJP’s unfulfilled promises: Rs 15 lakh in every citizen’s account, doubling farmers’ income, launching bullet trains, eradicating black money, and providing homes for all.

He slammed the skyrocketing cost of living under the BJP rule, “Gas cylinders rose from ₹350 to ₹1,200, petrol from ₹65 to ₹100+. Reduce those prices–then people might actually celebrate.”

Accusing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of acting in the interest of TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu, KTR alleged that the Congress government is intentionally delaying the repair of the Medigadda barrage.

“Karnataka is spending Rs 70,000 crore to raise the Almatti dam by 5 metres. But when KCR built the Rs 93,000 crore Kaleshwaram to irrigate 40 lakh acres, they scream corruption. Where’s the Rs 1 lakh crore scam in a Rs 93,000 crore project? Who built the tunnels, barrages, and pump houses?” KTR questioned.

In an unusually introspective moment, KTR accepted responsibility for BRS’s electoral setbacks.

“KCR garu did more for Telangana than any CM in India, but we, the leaders, failed to communicate it. The people were not wrong–we were,” he said, recalling KCR’s warning, “If people are deceived, they will rise.”

Highlighting the alleged stalling of the Smart City project in Karimnagar, KTR expressed disappointment over the Congress government’s inaction despite groundwork by BRS leaders Gangula Kamalakar and B. Vinod Kumar.

He encouraged youth and professionals to follow the example of Dr. Gautami Reddy and participate in shaping Telangana’s future.

“During KCR’s term, there was no shortage of power, water, or urea–even during Covid. Today, all of it has vanished under Revanth’s rule. That’s not coincidence–that’s incompetence,” he said.

He strongly criticised Revanth’s comment, calling Telangana a “cancer patient,” calling it a “slap on the face of every hardworking Telangana citizen.”

Ending his speech on a confident note, KTR asserted that the people of Telangana will once again choose KCR to lead the state:

“KCR didn’t just govern–he led a movement. Telangana became number one in per capita income under his leadership. When elections come, the people will remember who truly served them. Karimnagar will again deliver a historic verdict,” he concluded. (ANI)
