Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 27 (ANI): The President of All India Muslim Jamaat, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi, on Saturday called for peace following the recent protests outside Ala Hazrat Dargah and Ittehad-e-Millat Council chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan’s house in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly.

Maulana Bareilvi said that upholding peace and not hurting anyone are the only ways to love the Prophet.

He told ANI, “The incident is unfortunate. Such incidents should not occur on either side. I appeal to everyone to uphold peace. The only way to love Paigambar-e-Islam is not to hurt anyone, neither through words nor through actions and uphold peace. He has given a message of peace to the entire world.”

After the protesters pelted stones and clashed with the police, Maulana Bareilvi urged the Muslims to avoid conflicts with the police and administration.

“So, I urge all Muslims to maintain law and order, not take law into their hands and not cause conflicts with anyone – neither with the Police nor with the Administration…Follow what Paigambar-e-Islam said and the path He showed. This is the biggest love,” he said.

Meanwhile, locals said that the protest was peaceful, and it took a violent turn after police lathi-charged at the protestors.

A local Mohd. Sadiq Qureshi told ANI, “A large crowd gathered after namaz. If the Police will lathi-charge, then stones will be pelted. Now the situation is absolutely normal. The administration worked hard.”

Recalling the incident that occurred on Saturday, Faisal Khan said, “Some people were peacefully protesting here. Police had set up barricades here, and suddenly, the police detained one protester standing near the barricade. When they were taking that person, the protestors opposed, and the police began lathi-charge.”

“I am not aware of any stone-pelting incident. The situation is now normal. People of Bareilly are peace-loving. No one understood what led to the police resorting to the laathi-charge,” he added.

Meanwhile, Police have been deployed outside the Ala Hazrat Dargah and IMC chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan’s house.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh State Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that under the Yogi government, no one is permitted to take the law into their own hands.

“No one is allowed to take the law into their own hands under the Yogi government…the government and administration will surely take their course,” Suresh Khanna stated.

A group of people pelted stones during a protest after Friday prayers in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, prompting the police to resort to a lathi charge and detain several of them.

Protestors had gathered outside the Ala Hazrat Dargah and the residence of IMC chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, holding placards.

IG Bareilly Range Ajay Sahni said the situation is under control, and some of the stone pelters have been identified and taken into custody. (ANI)

New Delhi [India], September 27 (ANI): Delhi Police have recovered 3,580.4 kg of illegal firecrackers in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden. A family was using their residence as a godown. A man, his wife, and their son were caught red-handed while repacking crackers for supply, said the police.

The crackers were procured from Meerut, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad for high-profit sale in Delhi despite the Supreme Court ban.

The police said that with the upcoming festival season, field formations were instructed to check violations of the ban on firecrackers and trace bulk suppliers/storage points. On the basis of specific and credible information in the early hours of Thursday, a raid was conducted by a team from the Delhi Police.

The team identified and raided a residential premise at Vishal Enclave, Rajouri Garden, where a huge quantity of firecrackers was found stored all around the house. The family members were caught while repacking the crackers into smaller consignments for sale. With this seizure, West District Police has not only ensured strict compliance with the Supreme Court’s directions but also prevented a potential large-scale fire accident in a congested locality, said the police.

The police stated that the family operates a shop selling namkeen and other edibles in Moti Nagar, but has been involved in the illegal procurement of firecrackers from Meerut, Gurugram & Ghaziabad for profiteering. (ANI

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], September 26 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, presenting the “Nirmal Gujarat Awards” to eight Municipal Corporations and 16 Municipalities of the state for their outstanding performance in terms of cleanliness, stated that it is our commitment to achieve better development by fostering healthy competition among cities for awards in public welfare initiatives, including cleanliness.

According to the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), CM Patel presided over the Nirmal Gujarat Award distribution ceremony and the Swachh Bharat Mission Chintan Shibir at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. CM presented the “Nirmal Gujarat Awards” along with incentive funds totalling Rs18.5 crore for outstanding performance in cleanliness. Additionally, he also unveiled the logo of the “Maru Sheher, Maru Gaurav Abhiyan (My City, My Pride).”

Congratulating the Municipal Corporations and Municipalities for receiving the Nirmal Gujarat Awards, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated that such recognition motivates other cities to strive for better performance. He said that since independence, and specifically under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nationwide cleanliness campaign has transformed cleanliness into a core value and habit among citizens.

CM Patel also said that the state government remains committed to providing full support, including financial assistance, to Municipal Corporations and Municipalities for development-oriented initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the Nirmal Gujarat Mission.

Addressing the elected representatives of the municipalities, CM stated that, going forward, quality development projects must be executed collectively. He highlighted that building a developed India requires focusing not only on individual cities but also on uplifting even the smallest and most remote citizens, bringing them into the mainstream. He further added that various initiatives, including the cleanliness drives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have now truly transformed into mass movements.

Gujarat CM further stated that, beginning September 25, on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the proponent of integral humanism, and continuing until December 25, the 100th birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a nationwide “Har Ghar Swadeshi” campaign is being launched to promote an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

He emphasised that for this campaign to succeed, special focus must be given to using indigenous products for daily household needs. Aligning with the demands of the present time, CM urged everyone to adopt as many Swadeshi products as possible to contribute to building a Viksit Bharat.

As per the release, the Chief Minister stated that under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, products made in India are considered truly Swadeshi. He emphasised that Atmanirbharta is essential in every sector and added that by prioritising Swadeshi and Atmanirbharta, we can build a Viksit Gujarat as a foundation for a Viksit Bharat.

Referring to the opportunity to celebrate 75 years of Gujarat’s formation in 2035 as the Amrit Mahotsav, he stated that a roadmap for a Viksit Gujarat is being prepared to mark this milestone.

He said that Gujarat is a state with a strong financial position and disciplined growth. According to NITI Aayog, Gujarat is leading nationwide. During this year’s Urban Development Year, substantial funds are being allocated to provide citizens with improved facilities, and these resources are being effectively utilised to deliver infrastructural amenities to the public.

CM Patel urged all participants at the one-day Chintan Shibir to implement the best practices and insights from the session in their respective areas to ensure citizens receive top-quality facilities.

On this occasion, Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi stated that, inspired by Gujarat’s former Chief Minister and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cities in Gujarat are setting a benchmark nationwide in cleanliness. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, various support measures are being provided to ensure the state’s cities remain clean and pristine. As a result, 26 cities in Gujarat have received the “Garbage Free City” certificate.

Furthermore, the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 survey, conducted on the theme “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle,” saw Gujarat’s cities score over 8,100 out of an average total of 12,500 marks, securing third place nationwide, compared to eighth place last year. He congratulated Ahmedabad, Surat, Gandhinagar, and Vadodara for winning in various categories of the cleanliness survey. He urged everyone to strive for the best performance in the upcoming survey to further strengthen Gujarat’s standing in terms of cleanliness.

M. Thennarasan, Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department, stated that, in line with Mahatma Gandhi’s principle of cleanliness as a form of devotion, PM Modi launched the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ in 2014. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has taken the lead in the cleanliness campaign and carried out result-oriented work, to which he elaborated in detail. Director of the Swachh Bharat Mission, M. Nagaraj, delivered the vote of thanks.

The event was attended by Gandhinagar Mayor Miraben Patel, Commissioner of Municipalities Administration, Remya Mohan, as well as officials and staff from the state’s Municipal Corporations and Municipalities. (ANI)

The Chief Minister added that the revised GST rates will make consumer goods more affordable, providing significant relief to the common people. He also urged traders to ensure that customers are fully informed about the reduced rates. At the same time, he called for prioritising indigenous and locally made products to strengthen both the state and the nation’s economy.

Expressing their happiness over the GST rate cuts, traders and citizens said that this new initiative, launched during the Navratri festival, has created enthusiasm among markets and consumers. They further noted that the GST Savings Festival will bring joy to people’s lives and businesses, especially in the run-up to the upcoming Diwali celebrations.

Rolled out on September 22, the rationalised GST rates have set the stage for major sectoral transformation by rationalising tax slabs, simplifying compliance, and addressing long-standing issues, such as the inverted duty structure, according to a report by the Union Bank of India.

Daily-use products, packaged foods, and personal care items have been shifted to the 5 per cent slab from 12 to 18 per cent earlier. Companies are expected to cut prices by 4 to 6 per cent, improving affordability and boosting rural demand. Staples such as paneer, chapati and khakhra have even been moved to the zero-tax bracket, making essentials like these cheaper. (ANI)

Surat (Gujarat) [India], September 26 (ANI): Union Minister CR Patil has been appointed BJP co-in-charge for the Bihar Assembly elections, marking his second time in the role. He expressed confidence that the NDA will return to power in the state, benefiting its people and future generations.

Speaking to ANI, Patil said, “Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and our president J.P. Nadda have assigned responsibilities for different states to different people. I was co-in-charge in Bihar in 2015, and this time too, I have been appointed as co-in-charge.”

He expressed confidence in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) securing victory in the state, adding, “The BJP-led NDA government will be formed again, and its benefits will reach the people of Bihar and future generations. I am confident that the NDA government will definitely be formed…”

Earlier today, Union Minister and the newly appointed election in-charge of Bihar, Dharmendra Pradhan, will visit the poll-bound state on Friday and will participate in a crucial meeting of the party’s state unit.

According to party sources, Pradhan is expected to hold discussions with senior state leaders to review organisational preparedness and strategise ahead of the upcoming electoral exercises.

Ahead of this, the BJP has named Dharmendra Pradhan as the election in-charge for Bihar, and Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav has been tasked with the role for West Bengal.

Following the announcement, speaking with the media, Pradhan said, “Under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar, we have been in power for the last 20 years. With the support, vision, and leadership of the Prime Minister and the leadership of Nitish Kumar, the people of Bihar will give us the opportunity to serve them again.”

The Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year, in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not yet announced an official date.

While the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, aims to continue its tenure in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, comprising the RJD, Congress, and left parties, seeks to oust Nitish Kumar.

In the current Bihar Assembly, comprising 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131 members, with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U) having 45, HAM(S) having 4, and the support of 2 Independent Candidates.

The Opposition’s INDIA Bloc comprises 111 members, with the RJD leading with 77 MLAs, followed by the Congress with 19, the CPI(ML) with 11, the CPI(M) with 2, and the CPI with 2. (ANI)
