Czech government approves 2026 budget plan

PRAGUE, Sept 30 (Reuters) – The Czech government approved its 2026 central budget plan on Tuesday, in time to send it to parliament, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said, as it targets a raised deficit of 286 billion crowns ($13.82 billion). Fiala's government has cut the overall fiscal gap below the European Union limit of 3% of gross domestic product, expecting a 1.9% deficit in 2025. But it faces a parliamentary election this weekend, and the next government is likely to tweak the 2026 plan. ($1 = 20.6990 Czech crowns) (Reporting by Jason Hovet)
