Oct 9 (Reuters) – STOCKS: The benchmark BSE Sensex was up 0.49% at 82,172.1, while the broader NSE Nifty 50 index advanced 0.54% to 25,181.8, with stronger base metals prices boosting metal stocks, while information technology companies ticked higher ahead of TCS' quarterly results. RUPEE: The Indian rupee was little changed versus the U.S. dollar at 88.7825, mirroring recent price action, as likely intervention by the Reserve Bank of India helped stave off ongoing pressure on the South Asian currency. GOVERNMENT BONDS: The benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 98.61 rupees, with the yield up 2 bps at 6.5053%, due to heightened selling pressure ahead of a weekly debt auction. OVERNIGHT INDEX SWAPS: The one-year overnight index swap rate was at 5.43%, while the five-year swap rate rose nearly 3 bps to 5.635%. CALL MONEY: India's overnight call money rate was at 5.15% and the overnight TREPS rate was at 5.93% (Reporting by Ananta Agarwal in Bengaluru)
