Oct 9 (Reuters) – The United States would have announced this week a support package for farmers stung by trade disputes that included direct subsidies, if it weren't for a government shutdown, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox News on Thursday. "We would have announced an AG program to bridge our farmers until the next season, and that will be through direct subsidies… because it's important that our farmers get credit," he told the 'Ingraham Angle' program.
