By Krystal Hu (Reuters) -Artificial intelligence (AI) startup DualEntry has raised $90 million in a Series A round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures to take on established enterprise resource planning (ERP) software providers, the company said. GV (Google Ventures) also participated in the round, valuing the New York-based company, launched a year ago, at $415 million. The deal underscores investor appetite for AI-driven enterprise software and for startups that have found early product-market fit. DualEntry targets a segment long dominated by Oracle's NetSuite, Sage and Acumatica. The company argues that many legacy systems rely on outdated technology, are costly to implement and often require months-long, expensive migrations that can lock in customers. Its core product is an AI-native platform designed to automate financial workflows. The startup says it enables "NextDay Migration", which can transfer a company's historical financial data from an old system to DualEntry's platform within 24 hours, a process that can otherwise take months and incur significant consulting fees. Rapid implementation is central to DualEntry's go-to-market strategy. The company is focusing on mid-market firms that have outgrown entry-level accounting software such as QuickBooks but are reluctant to undertake a large-scale migration to a traditional ERP. CEO Santiago Nestares told Reuters his own experience of attempting an ERP migration at his previous company highlighted the burden of legacy systems. The "clunky" process, he said, inspired him to build a platform that could get businesses "live in 24 hours." DualEntry said it has signed customers ranging from startups to a publicly listed company. It plans to use the new capital to expand its roughly 40-person team and speed up product development, as well as expand internationally.  Investors see AI as a key enabler in what they estimate is a $500 billion ERP market, which has largely remained unchanged since the sector shifted from on-premise to cloud-based software. Many incumbents rely on networks of third-party implementation consultants paid by the hour. The push toward automation also comes amid a looming talent crunch in the accounting industry. "It takes understanding of what this complex process of migration is and training AI technology to essentially act as the data consultants that would perform the migration to drastically accelerate the process," said Ravi Mhatre, partner at Lightspeed. WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Alphabet's Google said hackers are sending extortion emails to an unspecified number of executives, claiming to have stolen sensitive data from their Oracle business applications. In a statement, Google said a group claiming affiliation with the ransomware gang cl0p was sending emails to "executives at numerous organizations claiming to have stolen sensitive data from their Oracle E-Business Suite." Google cautioned that it "does not currently have sufficient evidence to definitively assess the veracity of these claims." Messages seeking comment from cl0p and Oracle were not immediately returned. Google described the email campaign as "high-volume" but declined to share further details. Berlin (dpa) – Six billion tonnes per second — that’s the rate at which the planet Cha 1107-7626 eats up gas and dust from its surroundings, based on measurements from August 2025. Put simply, this planet grows by about 1,000 times the mass of the Pyramids of Giza every second. That makes it the fastest-growing planet ever documented, according to the European Southern Observatory (ESO). Cha 1107-7626 is a so-called rogue planet, meaning that unlike the planets in our solar system, it does not orbit a star but drifts freely through space. Observations using ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile allowed scientists to document its enormous appetite. According to a research team led by Víctor Almendros-Abad from the Astronomical Observatory of Palermo in Italy, the discovery points to parallels with the formation of stars. Cha 1107-7626 has a mass five to ten times that of Jupiter and is located about 620 light-years away in the constellation Chamaeleon. It is still in its formation phase and is being fed by a disk of gas and dust surrounding the planet, the team reported in the Astrophysical Journal Letters. In August, the planet underwent a so-called accretion burst, consuming material at a rate about eight times faster than just a few months earlier. This surge was about eight times faster than its previous rate, highlighting the dynamic nature of its growth phase. The discovery underscores the importance of studying rogue planets like "Cha 1107-7626" to better understand the processes of planetary and stellar formation. "People may think of planets as quiet and stable worlds, but with this discovery we see that planetary-mass objects freely floating in space can be exciting places," said Almendros-Abad. (Reuters) -Online fast-fashion retailer Shein plans to open its first bricks-and-mortar shops in France in November under an agreement with department store owner Société des Grands Magasins, a move that sparked criticism from French retailers. The stores in the BHV department store in central Paris and Galeries Lafayette department stores in five other French cities mark a new step for Shein, which has up to now only hosted temporary marketing-driven pop-ups around the world. SGM president Frédéric Merlin said the launch would attract a younger clientele, adding that a customer might buy a Shein item and a designer handbag on the same day. Galeries Lafayette, which sold the stores operated by SGM under its name through a franchise agreement, said it opposed the move, which would violate the franchise agreement, and plans to stop it from happening. “Galeries Lafayette profoundly disagrees with this decision with regards to the positioning and practices of this ultra fast fashion brand that is in contradiction with its offer and values,” the group said in a statement. RETAILERS CRITICISE DEPARTMENT STORE DEAL WITH SHEIN Shein, which sells 12-euro dresses and 20-euro jeans, faces pressure from other retailers, politicians and regulators in France, where lawmakers have backed a draft law regulating fast fashion that would, if implemented, ban Shein from advertising. "In front of the Paris City Hall, they are creating the new Shein megastore, which – after destroying dozens of French brands – aims to flood our market even more massively with disposable products," Yann Rivoallan, head of fashion retail association Fédération Francaise du Pret-a-Porter, said in a statement. French retailers were already struggling to compete with Zara and H&M when Shein launched, drawing cost-conscious consumers in with its discounts. Several French fast-fashion retailers such as Jennyfer and NafNaf went into insolvency proceedings earlier this year. SHEIN'S BRICKS-AND-MORTAR LAUNCH BRINGS CHALLENGES Shein sells clothes and accessories at rock-bottom prices thanks to its business model of sending parcels direct from factories in China to shoppers around the world, benefiting from customs rules giving low-value e-commerce parcels an exemption from duties. Shein executives have said its success is due to its online-only business model, meaning it has little unsold inventory, unlike bricks-and-mortar retailers. Setting up physical stores is a big departure from that model, requiring the company to maintain inventory in stores, which will add to running costs. It comes as Shein adapts to changes in its biggest market, the U.S., where its "de minimis" duty exemption for low-value parcels is ending. The European Union is planning to do the same. Shein's first store, on the sixth floor of the BHV, will open in early November, with later openings planned in Galeries Lafayette department stores in Dijon, Grenoble, Reims, Limoges, and Angers. Executive Chairman Donald Tang has said in interviews that Shein is especially popular in provincial and rural areas where he says customers have fewer options for fashionable clothes.
